ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Penni Vasama is a Helsinki-born artist based also in Paris. Vasama’s work is usually abstract and expressive. She works in layers of mixed mediums, that range from experimental, self made natural paints to fine arts mediums, which allows Vasama to form a unique, tangible sense of texture. Vasama’s canvases are openly emotive, challenging to redefine the perception of vulnerability through transmission of energy and raw power.

With a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from UCA, UK, and a Bachelor's degree in Theoretical Philosophy from Helsinki University, she also holds college degrees in Film Work and Creative Writing. Vasama's paintings have been exhibited in Finland, Switzerland, and France, and are held in private collections across Europe and the UK. Before her career as a visual artist, Vasama was formerly a professional snowboarder, a film director, and an established member in the realm of experimental, extreme sports journalism and documentary filmmaking.
